Adventures

During our travels around Zambia we have been to some unexpected and exciting places. We invite you to wander off the beaten track and explore some of the exciting corners of the country that offer unexpected adventures.

Adventure tourism is growing in Zambia and Tulukani Adventures has worked hard to develop short duration Adventure packages across the country. Activities typically include expeditions, hiking, abseiling, rock climbing and game viewing.

  • Chisomoka – Chisomoka is a small but challenging hill in the Zambezi Valley right on the edge of the Muchinga Escarpment. Chisomoka offers a wild camping experience, hike up the hill and an abseil down a steep rock face. Making it to the top of the hill provides a great sense of achievement as getting it to the summit is not easily achieved. However the breathtaking views of the escarpment and the valley from the top of the hill are well worth the climb.

  • Shimabala to Kafue – Just over 40 minutes drive south from Lusaka’s CBD brings you to the heart of Shimabala. Remote, scenic views and hillside villages are what characterize our Shimabala Hiking experience.  The hike starts in Shimabala and ends at the Kafue Bridge. For the majority of the expedition hikers walk along the Nabusuta stream and are surrounded by towering hills on either side. Activities along the way include an awesome Abseil down a blasted rock face and a visit to a local shrine known as “malende” to the local people. This is the site at which the locals offer prayers to the spirits of their ancestors for rains and a good harvest.
